Homobloc :: manchester, UK

A come as you are celebration that’s not about exclusivity.

The Rest Is Noise launched the inaugural Homobloc festival which sold out in advance and was hailed by the Guardian as “Manchester's queer clubbing utopia”. Coverage included Wolfgang Tillman’s own personal photo account of the event as well as a statement piece by i-D Magazine on the death of gay clubbing and the rise of the alt queer nights.

Homobloc, the love child of Luke Unabomber’s Homoelectric, is a queer party for all. Based out of Manchester where love is the message it’s a party that unites the clans, for homos, hetros, lesbos, don’t knows and disko asbos. “A melting pot of music genres; music we love, from afrobeat, boogie, disco, garage house, techno, voodoo, outer space bass buggin’ futurism, and outsider pop all thrown into the mix with no pomp or pretension.” A heartfelt evangelism that is about believing in something. A come as you are celebration that’s not about exclusivity.

“This hammered home the journey the city’s gay community has taken to arrive at a point where Homobloc is not just permissible, but a wild success."
